CAMBRIA Restoration Diary: Full Story
At last the decking is finished.
It was yet another momumental moment as shipwright Morgan Lewis fitted the last section of 3" decking around the right hand windlass post. As our picture shows, each length of timber making up the forward deck area had to be shaped to fit the inner face of the covering board and various openings and vertical posts.
The area at the forefront of the picture is the forward hold opening and will soon be bounded by the vertical hatch coamings. The square hole in the deck is the entrance to the forward accommodation and the vertical posts will support the extra large double barreled windlass and pawl mechanism.
