Treasure chest of artefacts and memorabilia
At an emotional reunion on the barge, the family recounted stories of their famous relation and went on to hand over to the Trust many items of memorabilia including the prize item of the complete cargo book covering the period 1954 - 1970. Also included was a CD of 27 songs and stories all performed in Bob's unique style. The Trust has also been offered the brass oil lamp seen in so many photographs of the skipper's cabin. This will be a wonderful addition to the original items being returned to the barge.
Recent visitors to Cambria will have seen the access scaffolding moved from side to side to allow the shipwrights space to work on the final bow planks of the outer wales. Our picture shows the port side timbers in place following steaming and fastening with spikes and bolts. Work continues on fitting deck carlings,lodging knees and partner frames.
