CAMBRIA Restoration Diary: Full Story
August Restoration News
As our picture shows, the knees have been individually formed and shaped from solid timbers and then fastened to the nearest frame and deck beam using 20mm galvanised bolts, thereby forming a solid structure of considerable strength. By late August over 20 knees had been fitted with more to follow.
The completion of the deck beams has allowed work to commence on the laying of the first important sections of the deck. These are called the margin planks and run from bow to stern in three joined lengths and will form the support and location of the hatch coamings. 24 deck carlings will then be fitted to the underside of the margins to give added support to the deck planking.
