Cambria Exhibition at Fleur de Lis Gallery, Faversham

From 6th February to 3rd March 2008, The Cambria will be the subject of an exhibition at the Fleur de Lis Gallery, Preston Street, Faversham.

October 2007: First Delivery of Sustainable Oak

Finding traditional materials to supply the Cambria with new timbers is not an easy task and we are incredibly fortunate to receive a donation from Mrs Angela Yeoman of 35 oak trees, derived from a sustainable source in Somerset. The first consignment of sawn bulks and planks was delivered on Tuesday 23rd October. This donation will ensure that the restoration of Cambria will be in accord with using environmentally friendly materials and is in keeping with our desire to demonstrate sound environmental principles during the restoration and during the new career of Cambria as an exemplar of sustainable and environmentally friendly practices. ...

1st September 2007: Cambria moves to Standard Quay

Cambria moves to Standard Quay to commence its restoration.
The Sailing barge Cambria was moved from Sheerness Dockyard to its restoration home of Faversham to begin work on the restoration. The Barge was towed into its new mooring at Standard Quay in time for the Faversham Hop Festival, and was greeted by a crowd of 150 people to welcome the barge. ...

1st March 2007: Lottery funding secured

Lottery funding secured for the restoration of the famous sailing barge.
On the 1st March the South East Region Committee of the Heritage Lottery Fund agreed to award £990,000 to the Cambria Trust towards the restoration of the famous Thames sailing barge Cambria. ...
